Social Events Are Starting Up Again at URC!
Summer is winding down, and that means our social events at United Reformed Church are getting ready to start up again! We’re looking forward to another season of opportunities to gather, enjoy one another’s company, and have some fun together.
Our first event of the fall will be Dinner Club in September. Dinner Club typically meets on the second Wednesday of every other month at 6:00 p.m. at various local restaurants. It is a wonderful opportunity to get to know some of our newer friends who have joined us for worship, as well as a chance to reconnect with longtime friends and hear about how everyone spent their summer.
In September, we will be gathering at The Somerville Elks Lodge. The Elks offer wonderful food and some great specials. I personally recommend the Somerville Salad! We are especially fortunate to have a few Elks among our church members, which gives us the opportunity to enjoy dinner at this wonderful local establishment.
If you would like to join us for Dinner Club, please contact the church office to reserve your spot by Monday Sept 7th. Everyone will be responsible for his or her own meal, tax and gratuity. Please bring cash as the Elks is not a traditional restaurant and may not provide separate checks. We look forward to seeing you and sharing a delicious meal and good conversation!
Meeting at: Somerville Elks Lodge
Located at: 375 Union Ave., Bridgewater
On: Sept 9, at 6:00 pm
RSVP: By Monday, September 7th

Mums and Mulch
Fall is on its way, so you know what that means! The Christian Ed Committee, along with the kids, will be planting mums and laying mulch around the church on Sunday, September 27th after worship.
We’d love to get some volunteers to lend a hand. Just bring a change of clothes and your gardening gloves and join us in a fun afternoon! Please let Amy Stires or Linda Hayes know if you can be there!
This is yet another way that we are teaching our youth to “love all and serve all”!

Sunday School
Sunday School classes will resume on September 13th.
Sunday School begins on Sundays at 9:30 a.m. We will continue to use our curriculum called Spark: Activate Faith. We are community-minded, Jesus-focused and we welcome all kids aged pre-k through 5th grade. Click here for a Registration Form . For more information, please call the church office at 908-725-4545.
Book Club on Main

The Book Club on Main will be taking a summer hiatus.
In the meantime, here are some summer book suggestions that we can discuss when we come back in September:
The Silver Ladies of Penny Lane by Dee MacDonald
The Keeper of Lost Things by Ruth Hogan
Enjoy your summer and Happy Reading!
URC Little Library

Our “Little Library” is on our front lawn. A community little library is a small, outdoor space where people can freely exchange books. The idea is simple: take a book, leave a book. It fosters a spirit of sharing, encourages reading, and strengthens the sense of community by providing access to books without any cost. Please consider donating new or gently used children’s books to help our library thrive. Books can be dropped off in Fellowship Hall after worship or dropped at the office (M-F 9a—1p) It’s yet another way URC is contributing to our community.
